Josh Nelson is the Director of Performance Science and Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach with the Atlanta Falcons, working at the intersection of coaching, performance systems, and applied sport science. Nelson leads long-term, multi-year development models for NFL athletes, from rookies to veterans, with an emphasis on sustainability, availability, and culture. Previously, he served as Assistant Athletic Director for High Performance at Penn State University, overseeing integrated performance systems across 31 sports and the Nittany Lions football program. With prior leadership roles at Baylor University and a doctorate from West Virginia University focused on coaching and long-term athlete development, Nelson brings a coach-first, systems-driven approach to elite performance environments.
